Megan + Dan | Ellicottville, NY

As you all are aware, not only do I photograph for my own business but I am also part of Becca Sutherland Photography's team; I talk about this a lot on social media. Sometimes I second shoot for her and other times I associate shoot for her (you hire BSP, if she’s not available on your day but you choose to pick one of her associate photographers then I’d —if it’s me— show up to photograph your special day, and then Becca edits and delivers your gallery in her editing style).

This was the case for Megan and Dan (however all of these photos below were edited by me as well)! When they booked with Becca, we knew right off the bat that I would be the one photographing their wedding; this meant that I also was able to meet them at Megan’s Alma Mater, St. Bonaventure (located right near my home town, Olean, NY), to photograph their snowing engagement photos as well (you may have seen them a few times if you follow me on social media!).

Megan and Dan had the perfect intimate wedding at a private residence owned by a family friend, in August 2021 (haha, I’m just a little behind on blogging!). There were about 50 people in attendance and their siblings were their bridal party members. I loved everything about how intimate and personal this wedding felt; I literally left feeling like a family member.

As you may remember, summer 2021 was a hot mess, literally, hot and lots of rain. Our phones kept alerting us that rain would be coming, but somehow we made it through first look, ceremony, formal photos, and first/parent dances before it started raining; although the clouds were worrying us during their ceremony (I think we even heard a rumble or two). Luckily the rain held off until cake cutting/dinner time while we were all under the tent.

I always try to get some sunset and/or night time portraits before I leave any wedding, but we just weren’t sure if that would be possible since it was down pouring. Literally right before I was scheduled to leave, the rain stopped and I asked Megan and Dan if they’d be willing to come take some last pictures with me. Thank goodness they did because as soon as we got to the location I had in mind, the sky went from grey to purple/pink, to orange, literally within minutes. It blew my mind and they are some of my favorite pictures that I have EVER taken. It was the perfect ending to the most perfect intimate wedding.

See below for a little glimpse of their amazing day!
